As part of the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE) funding period 2014-2020 of the European Union, the Section for Translational Neurodegeneration "Albrecht Kossel" received a microbiological safety workbench from the company VWR (LDM420N) on September 23, 2021.

On October 14, 2021, the device was put into operation by PTS/VWR and instruction was given on site, which included instructions for proper care and handling. Since it arrived, the device has been used regularly with an average usage time of approx. 30 h/week.

The reverse translational research projects made possible by the device applied for make a major contribution to the future field of "health/life sciences". The investment is a direct support of the structure-determining area "medical technology and regenerative medicine". The capacity and functionality of the safety workbench has been selected in such a way that the institute is well equipped for the future, also with regard to further collaborations with the device.
